Lord's Park |
Elgin
certainly owes a debt to the man whom Lord’s Park is named after. George P.
Lord was, among other things, a business manager at the watch factory, a dairy
farmer, president of the board of education, president of The First National
Bank and the mayor of Elgin from 1879 to 1880. In addition to these esteemed
positions, he also engaged in numerous philanthropic endeavors, including
Sherman Hospital, The YMCA, Elgin Academy and Lord’s Park.
