The Kimball Street Bridge |
The Kimball Street Bridge was the second bridge to span over The
Fox River. In February of 1887, The Fox River rose eight feet in several hours. It was The
Kimball Street Bridge that held the river in check, and probably kept The Chicago Street
Bridge from being totally destroyed. Finally succumbing, parts of The Kimball Street
Bridge gave way, causing property damage to the downtown district.
