Certainly
part of Elgin's charm comes from its streets. Like so many other river
cities, Elgin's streets twist and turn, wind and intersect each other so greatly
that occasionally
even the most seasoned Elgin-ite loses their way . Some of the streets, Like
Gifford or Kimball, are named after the founders of the town, while others are
named for the direction that they point in, like Chicago or Dundee.
Some streets like Division Street served a practical purpose, by delineating the properties of Misters Gifford and Kimball.
This brief thesis will hopefully give you an overview of just a few of the
streets in Elgin.
