Elgin Watch
Factory
and National House |
It
must have been pretty convenient for the workers who lived in the National House
Hotel to work in the morning, since their place of employment was right across
the street. After all, that was the idea of building the hotel there in
the first place.
In
addition to the hotel being close to work, it was a few short blocks from
practically every postcard in this web site. If you were expecting
visitors of if you planed a trip out of town, the train stopped in the downtown
area, plus there were plenty of hotels in the downtown area for your guests to
stay in. For individuals who wanted to learn the trade, they could attend the
Elgin Watch Makers Factory (see the next card).
