The Jeweler
who does all of the work on my watches always tells me, "Never
'click' the lid of a Hunter watch - instead, hold the button down, and
close it. Once the lid is down, let the button go".
That is because the lid will eventually wear down and will no longer stay
closed. This watch fell victim to that. I took it to Shockey's
Jewelry store in Downtown Elgin and had it fixed quite reasonably.
The man who fixes their watches used to work in the Elgin National Watch
Factory. He also replaced the crystal on the big 16 Hunter when I
broke it trying to close the back. If you have an old Elgin (or
anything else) I highly recommend them. |
